Step-by-step guide
Learn how to handle a strip, apply the sample and dispose of used supplies. Illustrations show G-520; use your own meter’s controls.
01Wash with soap and warm water, then dry thoroughly. Set out the meter, a fresh strip, your lancing device and a new sterile lancet.
Remember Handle strips with clean, completely dry hands.
02Remove the cap, insert a new lancet, twist off its protective cover and replace the device cap. Set the depth for your skin and pull back the cocking handle until it clicks.
Remember A higher depth number means a deeper puncture. Do not share the device or lancets.
03Take one strip out and close the vial immediately. Insert the contact-bar end fully into the meter, with the front side facing up. Wait for the flashing blood-drop symbol.
Remember The meter turns on automatically when you insert the strip.
04Hold the lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press its release button. Wipe away the first drop and gently form a fresh drop.
Remember Avoid squeezing hard. Let any alcohol used on the skin dry completely first.
05Bring the absorbent opening at the strip tip to the blood drop. Let it draw blood in until the confirmation window is filled and the meter beeps. Keep the strip in place for the 5-second countdown.
Remember Touch the drop with the tip; do not smear blood on the strip or apply it twice.
06Read the result; it is stored automatically. Eject the used strip. Open the lancing-device cap, secure the lancet tip in its protective cover, then eject it into an appropriate sharps container. Wash your hands afterwards.
Remember Use a fresh strip and lancet for every test. Do not leave used supplies exposed.

Detailed information about strip use, storage and product precautions.
Use the instructions supplied with your exact product and market version. This page helps you find them; it does not replace the complete instructions for use.
For the Stondon strips covered by these instructions, write the opening date on the vial and use them within 90 days of opening, or before the printed expiry date, whichever comes first. Do not use expired strips. If your package has different version-specific instructions, follow that label.
Keep strips in their original vial, close the cap firmly straight after taking one out, and keep the vial in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze them or transfer them to another container. Handle them only with dry hands.
No. Do not apply blood twice. Discard the incompletely filled strip and repeat with a new compatible strip and a fresh drop. Touch the absorbent opening at the tip to the drop, rather than dripping or smearing blood onto the top.
No. Use a new sterile lancet and a new strip for each test. The meter and lancing device are for a single person and must not be shared, even with family. Put used strips and lancets into an appropriate sharps container.
ST-50, ST-100 and ST-150 identify refill pack quantities, not a rule for meter compatibility. Match the exact compatibility statement on the strip label to your meter. If the packaging differs or the label is unclear, keep the vial closed and contact support with photos.
