Step-by-step guide
Your first test, step by step.
Follow the illustrated sequence below. Each step explains what to do and what to watch for.
Have these readyMeter · Compatible test strip · Lancing device · New sterile lancet · Appropriate sharps container
Wash and dry your hands
Make sure both AAA batteries are fitted in the marked +/− direction. Wash with soap and warm water, then dry thoroughly. Set out a fresh strip, your lancing device and a new sterile lancet.
Remember Handle strips with clean, completely dry hands.
Prepare the lancing device
Remove the cap, insert a new lancet, twist off its protective cover and replace the device cap. Set the depth for your skin and pull back the cocking handle until it clicks.
Remember A higher depth number means a deeper puncture. Do not share the device or lancets.
Insert a new test strip
Take one strip out and close the vial immediately. Insert the contact-bar end fully into the meter, with the front side facing up. Wait for the flashing blood-drop symbol.
Remember The meter turns on automatically when you insert the strip.
Prepare a fingertip sample
Hold the lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press its release button. Wipe away the first drop and gently form a fresh drop.
Remember Avoid squeezing hard. Let any alcohol used on the skin dry completely first.
Touch the strip tip to the drop
Bring the absorbent opening at the strip tip to the blood drop. Let it draw blood in until the confirmation window is filled and the meter beeps. Keep the strip in place for the 5-second countdown.
Remember Touch the drop with the tip; do not smear blood on the strip or apply it twice.
Read, then dispose safely
Read the result; it is stored automatically. Eject the used strip. Open the lancing-device cap, secure the lancet tip in its protective cover, then eject it into an appropriate sharps container. Wash your hands afterwards.
Remember Use a fresh strip and lancet for every test. Do not leave used supplies exposed.

My G-430 screen is blank. How do I start a test?
Insert a new compatible strip fully, contact-bar end first. The G-430 wakes automatically; you do not need to press M to start testing. If it stays blank, check that both AAA batteries are installed in the marked +/− direction and replace depleted batteries. If it still will not start, contact support.
Where should the blood go on the strip?
Touch the absorbent opening at the strip tip to the blood drop. The strip draws it in; do not put blood on the flat surface. Wait for the window to fill and the beep, then keep the strip inserted until the countdown finishes. Use a new strip if the sample is incomplete; do not add another sample.
What do E-U and E-F mean?
E-U means a used strip was inserted: discard it and start with a new strip. E-F can appear when the strip is removed after blood is applied: use a new strip and leave it in place until the result appears. Contact support if the same problem continues.
Which lancing depth should I choose?
For the five-level device shown, 1–2 is for soft or thin skin, 3 for average skin, and 4–5 for thick or calloused skin. Choose for your skin, not your age or gender. Use a fresh sterile lancet and the side of your fingertip.
Are results saved? How can I see them?
Yes. The G-430 stores up to 500 readings. With the meter off, briefly press M to show the most recent result. Briefly press M again to move through earlier results. Avoid holding M down if you only want to review readings.
